Theoretical study of deuteron-induced reactions in the nuclear data field

Nakayama, Shinsuke; Iwamoto, Osamu; Watanabe, Yukinobu*; Ogata, Kazuyuki*

Intensive neutron sources using deuteron accelerators have been proposed for not only science and engineering fields but also medical applications. For the engineering design of such facilities, accurate and comprehensive nuclear data of deuteron-induced reactions are indispensable. However, it is difficult to meet the requirement by employing experimental data alone. Thus, theoretical model calculations play a key role in completing the necessary nuclear data by interpolation and extrapolation of experimental data. Under the above situations, we have been developing a code system dedicated for deuteron-induced reactions, called DEURACS. In the present work, calculations using DEURACS are compared with available experimental data and validation of the present modelling in DEURACS is discussed. Moreover, the importance of consideration of the breakup processes for accurate prediction of deuteron-induced reactions is also presented.

We investigate the hidden-charm pentaquarks as hadronic molecules of $$Lambda_cbar{D}^{(ast)}$$ and $$Sigma_c^{(ast)}bar{D}^{(ast)}$$ coupled to a $$uudcbar{c}$$ compact core by employing an interaction satisfying the heavy quark and chiral symmetries. Our model can consistently explain the masses and decay widths of $$P_c^+(4312)$$, $$P_c^+(4440)$$ and $$P_c^+(4457)$$ with spin parity assignments $$J^P=1/2^-$$, $$3/2^-$$ and $$1/2^-$$, respectively. We find that the mass ordering is dominantly determined by the short-range interaction given by coupling to the compact core, while the decay widths by the tensor force of the one-pion exchange.

Studying the phi meson in nuclear matter by simulating pA reactions in a transport approach

Gubler, P.

Few-Body Systems, 62(3), p.53_1 - 53_5, 2021/09

 Times Cited Count:0 Percentile:0(Physics, Multidisciplinary)

Based on my recent research, I will explain about my numerical simulation of pA reactions (p: proton, A: nucleus), which are used to study the $$phi$$ meson in nuclear matter. I will particularly focus on the question of how the modification of the $$phi$$ meson spectral function in nuclear matter influences the experimentally observed di-lepton spectrum.

Bound state properties studied by the knockout reaction

Yoshida, Kazuki

Atomic nucleus is a quantum many-body system consisting of protons and neutrons. Nevertheless, it is known that their characteristics can be well described and understood by the few-body picture. One of such pictures is the single-particle motion of a nucleon in a mean-field potential made by all nucleons. Another one is the clustering phenomenon, $$alpha$$ clustering for example. One of the powerful probes for such states of a nucleus is the nucleon and cluster knockout reactions. In this paper, I overview how these states can be probed by the knockout reaction and discuss the present status and the future perspectives of this research field.

In the J-PARC E27 experiment, we search for a $$K^-pp$$ bound state via the $$d(pi^{+}, K^+)$$ reaction at 1.7 GeV/c at the K1.8 beam line. The binding energy and decay width of the $$K^-pp$$ bound state can be obtained in the missing mass measurement with a good energy resolution of 2 MeV/c$$^2$$. A range counter array (RCA) was constructed to detect the two high-momentum protons from the $$K^-pp$$ decay and to reduce the background such as quasi-free hyperon production. Recently, we have carried out a pilot run in June, 2012. The $$d(pi^{+}, K^+)$$ missing-mass spectrum has been obtained for the first time.

Search for $$Theta^+$$ via the pion induced reaction at J-PARC; J-PARC E19

Shirotori, Kotaro

Few-Body Systems, 54(1-4), p.145 - 150, 2013/03

The $$Theta^+$$ pentaquark baryon was searched for via the $$pi^-prightarrow K^-X$$ reaction at J-PARC. $$pi^-$$ meson beams were irradiated on the liquid hydrogen target with the beam momentum of 1.92 GeV/$$c$$. In the missing mass spectrum, no peak structure corresponding to $$Theta^{+}$$ mass was observed. The preliminary upper limit of the differential cross section averaged over the scattering angle of 2$$^{circ}$$ to 15$$^{circ}$$ at the laboratory frame was less than 0.3 $$mu$$b/sr at the 90% confidence level in the missing mass region over 1.51 GeV/$$c^2$$ to 1.55 GeV/$$c^2$$.
